[ARCHIVED] Police Department introduces Safety Town

The Miami Township Police Department will welcome area children to Safety Town, the week of July 14–18, 2025. Safety Town is designed for children entering kindergarten and first grade. It provides educational experience for children, free of charge. Participants will learn about pedestrian safety, fire safety, gun safety, bus safety, stranger danger and more. Kids will navigate safety lessons at our child-sized safety town village, including a peddle car adventure! They will also travel to see the police station and a Miami Valley Fire District fire house.

“It is important that children be aware and understand safety rules while they are outside playing or making their way to and from school,” Assistant Police Chief James McCarty, said. “The more knowledge we can instill in young kids, the better prepared they will be when danger arises. Safety Town is a fun and informative way to interest children in these very issues.”

Safety Town is located at Jane Chance Intermediate School, 10661 Wood Road. We are honored to have the support of the Miamisburg City School District for this project. There will be two sessions offered, 9–11 a.m. or Noon–2 p.m., July 14 – 18, 2025. Here is a link for more information: https://miamitownship.com/481/Safety-Town. Participants are encouraged to register now. Each session is limited to 30 children.
