[ARCHIVED] Miami Township Board of Trustees appoints new trustee

Douglas Barry

The Miami Township Board of Trustees selected business owner and Miami Township resident, Doug Barry, to complete a vacated term expiring December 31, 2025. He was sworn into office at the trustees’ meeting on Monday, October 28, 2024. Barry will collaborate with Trustee President Don Culp and Trustee Vice President Terry Posey, Jr. to oversee township operations.

“Mr. Barry brings considerable knowledge of township operations and was previously elected by the residents of Miami Township to serve as township trustee,” Trustee President Don Culp said. “He will be able to quickly transition into the role allowing for seamless continuation of township business ahead of a regular election for this position in November 2025.”

Barry is owner and president of BarryStaff, Inc, a local employment agency he founded in 2001. He previously held office as township trustee from 2014-2019. He holds marketing and management degrees from Ohio Northern University. He and his wife, Jessica, have two children.

“I am excited to be back with Miami Township after 5 years away. Thank you to Mr. Culp and Mr. Posey for the appointment. There are so many great things happening in the community and I really missed working with the staff. After 18 years coaching high school football, I decided it was time to step away and things timed up perfectly to return to public service,” Trustee Doug Barry said. “There are a lot of economic development projects in the works and the Dayton Mall redevelopment is particularly important to the future of the township. Strengthening collaborations with our neighbors is one thing I really enjoyed in my previous time as trustee, and I look forward to those opportunities again.”

Barry will complete the term vacated by John Morris on September 30, 2024. Morris resigned after six years of service, citing conflicts with his demanding travel schedule.

The Board of Trustees extend their thanks to those who participated in the selection process for their commitment to Miami Township and their willingness to serve the community.
