Miami Township Detective Todd Comer is the recipient of the 2022 Douglas L. Knight Humanitarian Award presented by the Montgomery County Association of Police Chiefs. Det. Comer meets and exceeds the qualifications for this award, which are:
- recognizing the work of a person in their community who is devoted to the welfare of the greater community
- has a known record of accomplishments in humanitarian service which reflects his dedication to the principles of human dignity
- the type of person that serves as a role model by demonstrating high moral standards, ideas and greatness of character
The award honors the recipient for the humanitarian work they do outside of their job duties. It is named for the late and longtime Vandalia police chief, Douglas Knight, who died suddenly in 2018 after a distinguished career in law enforcement.
