Miami Township is celebrating the completion of the Vienna Parkway extension project. After two years of planning and construction, the extension officially opened May 3, 2021, during a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
This new corridor will allow for direct access to SR 741 complete with necessary traffic signal improvements, landscaping and a new pedestrian path to Cox Arboretum. These enhancements will help slow traffic and keep vehicles at the parkway’s 25 mph speed limit. It is also a ‘no trucks’ route.
“The township worked diligently with the contractor and neighbors to ensure that the intersection is safe,” Township Administrator Ronald L. Hess said. “We completed studies and conducted public meetings early in the process, recognizing that traffic through the neighborhood could increase, and we will continue to monitor traffic. Extending the parkway to SR 741 allows for more convenient travel to a busy stretch of our community.”
Double Jay Construction was awarded a contract bid in March 2020 to complete construction at a projected cost of $859,800. The township worked with the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District to secure a $1,960,589 State Infrastructure Bank Loan for the extension project and others.
Two surrounding lots along the parkway extension are available for development. The Trilogy Senior Living Community is currently constructing the Vienna Springs Health Campus on a third lot that is scheduled to open in late summer 2021.
