[ARCHIVED] Government Center reopens to public May 18

Government Center

The Miami Township Government Center is reopening to the public on May 18 after closing two months ago to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors will be asked to follow strict new guidelines during their visit that promote proper social distancing. And, office hours have slightly changed. The government center will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

“We want to ensure that the community and our employees stay healthy as we slowly return to normal operations,” Administrator Ron Hess said. “Markings are clearly visible on the lobby floor to help people stay six feet apart and we have added drop boxes for any zoning certificates or other materials that must be delivered in an effort to minimize person-to-person contact.”

Anyone who needs to apply for a zoning certificate and other zoning materials are urged apply online using the Community Development Department’s online portal at www.miamitownship.com.

Hess says employees will be required to wear masks in all community spaces in the office and each person must complete a health assessment upon entering the building each day. Dependent on the outcome of the health check, an employee may be sent home immediately to seek medical attention.

“Our services never lapsed during the down time. Several employees remained in the office to manage day-to-day operations while supporting those working from home,” Hess said. “And, of course, our police department and fire district were fully staffed to protect the community.”

The township has posted the guidelines for visiting the government center at 2700 Lyons road on its website www.miamitownship.com.
