[ARCHIVED] National Night Out 2019

NNO Logo 2019

The Miami Township Police Department is celebrating 26 years of participation in National Night Out (NNO). The township’s community gatherings are among the best in the nation, ranking third in 2018 among communities with 15,000-50,000 people. More than a dozen neighborhood block parties and the annual community party at Austin Landing are planned for Tuesday, August 6, 2019, beginning at 6 p.m.

National Night Out promotes strong police-community partnerships. It is a chance for neighbors to talk one-on-one with officers about neighborhood concerns. Officers can share crime prevention tips and get to know the people they serve in a relaxed setting.    “National Night Out is our way of developing strong relationships with residents,” Capt. John Magill said. “The more we know about each other, the better we can serve the community. By helping each other, we can help prevent crime.”

Neighborhood parties are organized by township families and include food, music and games. Participants at the Austin Landing celebration include the Miami Township branch of the Dayton Metro Library, Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, the Dayton Police Department’s Honor Guard and SWAT, and the Ohio Police Canine Memorial organization. Visitors can sign up once again to donate blood in the Community Blood Center’s Bloodmobile. Go online to register at: https://www.donortime.com/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/56601.
