Drug takeback day logo

WHO:            Miami Township Police Department

WHAT:          Police officers will be collecting unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs as part of a nationwide effort.

WHEN:          Saturday, April 27 |   10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

WHERE:       Miami Township Police Department |  2660 Lyons Road

INFO:  National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is designed to keep old prescription drugs out of the wrong hands. In 2018, take-back day collected 460 tons of pills at more than 5,800 collection sites nationwide. Most of those drugs came from family members and friends, right out of their home medicine cabinets. And, experts say flushing drugs down the toilet or throwing them in the trash creates safety and health hazards. The Miami Township Police Department has a disposal box in its lobby that is always available during open lobby hours, but the department is proud to take part in this special DEA initiative.
