INFO: This is a story of what neighbors can do when they band together for the betterment of the community. Residents who live in the Villages of Miami subdivision are celebrating the rebirth of their beloved park. After raising funds during various events through the Dayton Foundation, the Reeder Park Advisory Council, along with assistance from the township, was able to successfully purchase a new playset, and then raise more funds for the purchase of a newly installed swing set. The family of the park’s namesake, Jim Reeder, was so impressed with the neighbors’ grassroots effort, that son, Jerry Reeder, donated $750 to help the group reach their goal for the swing set purchase. Township trustees, the township parks department and administration will help the neighbors celebrate with a ribbon cutting and check presentation from Jerry Reeder on Thursday.
