The Miami Township Police Department earned its third Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agency (CALEA) accreditation. This national distinction is earned through a strenuous process, demonstrating the department’s commitment to best practices in policing and the highest standards in public service.
Assistant Police Chief James McCarty accepted the honor at this year’s CALEA conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, August 9, 2025.
“This recognition demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism and excellence in law enforcement. It highlights our dedication to implementing best practices and enhancing the quality of service we provide to the Miami Township community,” Assistant Police Chief James McCarty said.
CALEA advocates community-based policing. The Miami Township Police Department has been CALEA-accredited since 2017, last earning the distinction in June 2021. Departments must earn re-accreditation every four years.
