Miami Township Parks Supervisor Rex Gore is now a certified playground safety inspector (CPSI) through the National Recreation and Park Association. After completing a training program, Rex can better inspect our park playgrounds for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and other safety issues.
He can perform in-depth inspections to find potential hazards and look to see that our equipment meets national standards for equipment specifications, surfacing requirements, and risk management.
“These new tools will allow me to better audit and inspect our parks’ play equipment to get them all up to safety codes. It will make our parks safer and inclusive for all park visitors,” Parks Supervisor Rex Gore, said.
Gore’s certification also puts the parks department on a solid course to securing more grant dollars to help with the cost of maintaining our parks.
“We need safety inspections that create results in safety for everyone that uses our parks, especially children climbing on play equipment,” Public Works Director John Schweickart said. “Rex’s certification gives us stronger footing when we apply for grant money. We are grateful that Rex continues to capitalize on his experience by continuing his education.”
The National Recreation and Park Association provides resources and educational opportunities that advocate for safer parks in communities across the country.
