The Miami Township Police Department is planning added enforcement of Ohio’s DUI laws during a Thanksgiving Blitz campaign November 22 – November 26, 2023.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 830 people died nationwide in alcohol-impaired crashes from 2017-2021, during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“Just one DUI death is too many,” Sgt. James McCarty, Miami Township Police Department, said. “By adding extra patrols, we can focus more attention on not only getting impaired drivers off the road, but also reducing the number of traffic crashes. There is zero tolerance for DUI.”
The Miami Township Police Department will also add patrols December 15, 2023, – January 1, 2024, for a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The campaign is part of an NHTSA grant the police department received for 2023.
