The Miami Township Police Department’s National Night Out celebration is among the nation’s best. The annual community celebration returns to Austin Landing this year on the same day that residents celebrate with block parties, Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The Austin Landing event takes place from 6 – 8 p.m. Neighborhood parties also begin at 6 p.m.
“The Miami Township Police Department is entering our 30th year taking part in National Night Out,” Lieutenant Jay Phares said. “The neighborhood parties and gathering at Austin Landing give us a relaxed atmosphere to meet with residents. It is a good way to share ideas about how to work together to curb crime in the township. We enjoy getting to know the people we serve.”
The Austin Landing event includes music, food, information booths, a drone demonstration and touch-a-truck. The Community Blood Center’s Bloodmobile will also be there. People who wish to donate blood need to make an appointment in advance at www.donortime.com.
While the township celebrates 30 years, the national celebration is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023. The township’s celebration ranked third in 2022 among communities with 15,000-50,000 people.
