[ARCHIVED] Miami Township remembers Andrew Papanek

Andy Papanek (3)

Miami Township is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Trustee Andrew J. Papanek. He was an integral part of our community, having served on the Board of Trustees from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2017.

“Andy was dedicated to the residents and businesses of the township,” Christopher Snyder, Miami Township administrator, said. “I had the pleasure to work with him on many projects as community development director, including his tireless efforts to help bring Austin Landing and its surrounding properties and roadways to fruition.”

In addition to the Austin Landing development, Papanek was a strong proponent of the township, adopting a Limited Home Rule that allows the township to operate as a self-government that can pass new regulations based on township needs. He was also responsible for the development of a new process for declaring nuisance properties within the township, improvement of external communications, and helped revive the Community Improvement Corporation, a non-profit organization designed to assist the township with economic development projects.

Miami Township administrators, staff, police and fire remember Andrew Papanek fondly. We send our sincere condolences to his wife, Linda, sons, Jeff, Todd and Scott, and extended family and friends.
