The Board of Trustees approved a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) for Austin Landing at its September 7, 2021, meeting. The DORA will allow restaurants and other establishments within Austin Landing to purchase specially marked cups that customers can use within a designated area of the establishment. Boundaries of the DORA will be clearly marked with new signage. The hours of operation is daily 4 - 11 p.m. within the designated DORA boundaries. The start date is to be announced.
As part of the DORA, the Miami Township Police Department will have increased presence at Austin Landing and all sanitation requirements and needs will be met.
During the September 7 public hearing, people had the opportunity to discuss the plan. The general manager of Chuy's restaurant, spoke in favor of the DORA and its benefits to her business, but stressed the need for strict controls as to how the DORA operates.
