Elections

Local elections are managed by the Montgomery County Board of Elections and statewide by the Ohio Secretary of State's Office. The state offers in-depth information concerning Election Day:

Township Elections

Miami Township has four elected offices - three trustees and one fiscal officer. All offices are elected in November for four-year terms. The trustee positions beginning in January of the following year, and the fiscal officer position beginning in April of the following year. The elections are staggered as follows:

  • Two trustees - 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025
  • One trustee and fiscal officer - 2015, 2019, 2023

Board of Trustees

The board votes and approves resolutions that finance, support and regulate the township as well as numerous other duties. They also hire township staff and appoint members to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Zoning Commission.

The Board of Trustees is compensated per ORC 505.24.

Fiscal Officer

The fiscal officer keeps the official record of proceedings (minutes) at Board of Trustees meetings, administers the oath of office to all employees and provides and manages the official financial balance sheets for the township. This includes issuing checks and preparing payrolls and associate functions like tax reporting.

The fiscal officer is compensated per ORC 507.09.
