The Miami Township road, police, zoning and parks departments rely on the Fleet Maintenance Department for routine repairs and preventive maintenance. The Fleet Maintenance Department, comprised of two full-time staff members, is responsible for maintenance of over 80 township-owned vehicles and equipment. A full inventory of small engine equipment and power tools are also maintained by the department. The mechanics are trained in the maintenance of light and heavy duty equipment and possess a number of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications.
The Fleet Maintenance Department is responsible for routine services on older vehicles, as well as preparing newly purchased vehicles for operation. The fleet maintenance bay is located within the Public Works complex. The mechanic staff may occasionally assist with road maintenance and serve as regular route drivers for winter weather events when needed.
