Leaf Collection Program

The Public Works Department will provide leaf collection services to residents by October 26th this year. Leaf collection will continue through the fall as long as the volume of leaves warrants this service.

The crews will visit each street in the township once every 10-14 working days or sooner early in the season. During the heaviest stage of leaf fall or times of inclement weather, it is not uncommon to have longer periods between rounds. The department will adjust to a six-day work and/ or ten hour per day work schedule when necessary in order to accelerate the collection process.

Residents are encouraged to mulch the leaves when possible during the fall to supply turf with nutrients necessary for a healthy lawn. Mulching can be accomplished by raising the deck of the mower and installing a blade designed for this activity. It is a free way to fertilize your yard.

To aid crews throughout the process, residents are urged to:

  • Rake or mulch leaves often.
  • Place leaf piles at the back of the curb.
  • Avoid mixing grass clippings (free fertilizer too!), sticks and other debris in with the leaves.
  • Crews will not pick up leaf piles that contain these items.
  • Avoid parking vehicles on or near the leaf piles.

We wanted to thank all residents that chose mulching their leaves this year and encourage others to consider this option. Mulching supplies the turf with nutrients necessary for a healthy lawn, lowers program expenses, and accelerates the collection process. Mulching can be accomplished by raising the deck of the lawnmower and installing a blade designed for this activity.
