Departments

Welcome to the Parks Department!

The need to provide areas for both active and passive recreation was never more apparent than in today's fast-paced world. In recognition of this, Miami Township has developed a Parks Department over the last 25 years that is responsible for maintaining over 130 acres of land dedicated to the recreational needs of our residents. It is the goal of the Parks Department to provide residents and visitors with safe, clean, well maintained parks for outdoor recreation.

In 2010, Miami Township will be bidding mowing services out to a local contractor for maintenance of parks and Township owned properties.

Shelter Reservation Policy

For family reunions, company picnics, and similar events the shelter houses may be reserved at no charge. The Board of Trustees recently changed the first come-first served reservation policy to one that gives Township residents and businesses the first opportunity to reserve shelters each year. Effective Jan 1, 2000 residents and businesses within the unincorporated areas of the Township may make reservations on a first come-first served basis until April 15th. After April 15th any person or business, regardless of where they reside, may make reservations on a first come-first served basis. A permit/release must be obtained by everyone with a shelter reservation. This permit/release may be sent electronically upon approval of online reservations or may be picked up at the Miami Township Government Center, 2700 Lyons Rd., from 8am to 5pm on weekdays. A key to the restrooms may also be checked out at this location for a $10.00 refundable key deposit. To make a shelter reservation or for more information on the reservation process please see the Park Reservations link or call the Administrative Office at 433-9969.

Ball Diamond Reservations

The Park system has a total of four ball diamonds available for reservation. Three diamonds are located in Miami View Park off Munger Road and one is located in Layer Park off Cordell Drive. Crews drag the diamonds and mow fields weekly weather permitting, but do not install permanent bases or line fields for official play. Diamond reservations are made through the Public Works Office. Reservations may be requested after January 1st of each year for the upcoming season. To reserve ball fields call 866-4661 weekdays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
