Human Resources’ mission is to provide effective Human Resource Management by developing and implementing policies, programs and services which contribute to the attainment of Miami Township and employee goals by: properly balancing the needs of the employees and the needs of the Township; and ensuring a diverse workforce in a safe and discrimination/harassment free environment by: maintaining compliance with employment laws and government regulations; providing management and employee training; and developing policies and procedures; and providing training and development in areas of: effective leadership and career development of employees; employment law and government regulation, and litigation avoidance; and hiring the most qualified employees by: pre-planning staffing needs; ensuring an effective internal interview process; increasing company visibility in the employment marketplace; identifying the best and most cost effective recruitment sources; and conducting thorough background/reference checks; and retaining valued employees by: assuring effective leadership qualities in supervisors and managers; providing competitive wages and benefits; furnishing technical, interpersonal and career development training and coaching; conducting exit interviews and supplying relevant feedback to management; and enhancing two-way communication between employees and management.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for administering the Township’s recruitment and selection processes, involving recruitment and examination of applicants for employment, occupational health and safety, employee benefits, workers’ compensation, public employee liability coverage, employee training, employee relations and equal employment opportunity programs.

Our task is to provide diverse and skilled applicant pools, classification and compensation administration, labor relations, human resources management tools, policies and procedures, and other support to Township departments.

The mission of the Human Resources Department is to represent the Township Board of Trustees and Township Administrator on all employee relations matters with representatives of recognized employee organizations: plan, research, coordinate and negotiate with represented employee organizations on all subjects pertaining to wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

To assure that the Township has fair and equitable policies and procedures and that all recruitment, hiring, placements, transfers and promotions will be made on the basis of individual qualifications for the position filled.

Officer Jason M. Kramer Promoted to Sergeant

On December 21, 2011 Officer Jason M. Kramer was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Sergeant Kramer joined the department in 2003 and has worked road patrol since his appointment.  While working road patrol, Sergeant Kramer preformed the duties of an Evidence Technician and a Bike Patrol Officer.  Sergeant Kramer has earned the respect of his peers and has received many commendations and citizen appreciation letters.  Sgt. Kramer recently received an Officer of the Year Award from the Miami Valley Crime Prevention Association and a Medal of Valor from the department for his heroic efforts in rescuing a gentleman from a burning vehicle.  Chief John Chris Krug stated, “Sgt. Kramer is a very professional and caring individual who will make an excellent supervisor.”  Sgt. Kramer has an Associates Degree from Sinclair Community College and is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Affairs.  He is married and has two children.
