Citizen Police Academy

The Miami Township Police Department will host a Citizen Police Academy beginning March 5, 2020. Classes are held every Thursday evening for ten weeks, from 6 - 9 p.m., at the police department, 2660 Lyons Road, unless specified otherwise.
The academy provides an opportunity for citizens to learn firsthand about police operations. The student learns to differentiate fact from fiction, fostering a better understanding and communication between the police department and the public.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Anyone can apply, but participants who reside or work in Miami Township have first preference should the class become full. Class size is limited to 20 students.

You may also pick up an application at the Miami Township Police Department, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; or request one electronically via email to Sgt. Jason Etter at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications must be submitted no later than 4 p.m., February 21, 2020.

All applications and waiver forms must be completed fully and appropriately for submission to the academy. All applicants must pass a criminal background check.
