The U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nationwide count of our citizens every ten years. The 2020 census is well underway and will have a significant impact on all of us. The census determines how many representatives each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives and is used to redraw district boundaries.
Communities like Miami Township rely on the census numbers to plan for residential needs including new roads, schools and emergency services. Business people look to the census to find the right place to open up shop. The federal government distributes more than $675 billion to states and communities based on census data.
Miami Township encourages you to fill out your census form in 2020. Data collection began in January 2020 and continues through October! While the majority of township residents have filled out their census, we urge the remaining few to take a few minutes and fill one out.
