Zoning Applications

Due to the recent circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are encouraging everyone to limit in person contact and to take advantage of our existing online resources.  Our lobby will re-open to the public on May 18, 2020 from 8:00am to 4:30pm M-F. The safety of our staff and our entire community is of the utmost importance to us.  If you must visit us in person, we do request that you practice appropriate social distancing and follow our current Administration building policy. 

The entire Community Development staff is available to you remotely. You may contact us anytime M-F from 8am-4:30pm via email or by phone.

You may still apply to the Zoning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, or for a Zoning Certificate (permit) online for your home or business. Please follow the steps below to apply remotely via our online server, Citizenserve and reach out to our staff at planning@miamitownship.com should you have any questions. 

If you are not comfortable submitting a payment online, you can mail or drop off your payment once your zoning certificate application has been approved.  *Please include your name, the type of permit you are paying for, the address for your permit, and put "Attention: Zoning" on the outside of your envelope. We encourage everyone to take advantage of our online permit and payment system and we remind you that our staff is available to you should you require any assistance. Thank you.


You may now submit your application to the Board of Zoning Appeals, Zoning Commission, or apply for a Zoning Certificate (permit) online with Citizenserve. Just click on the appropriate link below to get started.  If you are uncertain which application to select please contact the Community Development Office at 937-433-3426.  

Incomplete information may cause delays in the processing of your application.  Please be sure to review each of your answers and required materials for accuracy prior to submission.

In addition to submitting applications online with Citizenserve, you may now pay application fees online by credit card or eCheck with Forte. Disclaimer: Forte charges convenience fees for the utilization of their service. If you pay by credit card, a convenience fee of 2.5% of the payment amount (with a minimum fee of $1.95) will be added to the total fee. If you pay by eCheck, a flat fee of $1.75 will be added to the total fee. Payments by cash or check may still be made in person, or if mailed to the Community Development Office.

Apply here for a Zoning Certificate (click here)  For standard development or construction on your residential or commercial property, such as commercial signs, fences, accessory structures, additions, or other common construction projects please complete a zoning certificate application.

Apply here for Board of Zoning Appeals (click here)  To apply to the Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance, conditional use, administrative appeal, or a non-conforming use modification for a property, please complete a Board of Zoning Appeals application. Please be sure to speak with a member of our Community Development Staff at 937-433-3426 to first assist you with this process.

Apply here for Zoning Commission (click here)  To apply to the Zoning Commission for a rezoning, minor modification, major modification, final development plan, preliminary plan, architectural sign package, landscape site review, outdoor advertising, please complete a Zoning Commission Application.  Please be sure to speak with a member of our Community Development Staff at 937-433-3426 to first assist you with this process.

If you are unable or prefer not to apply online, please pick up a hard copy at our office or download the appropriate application at the link below.  You may then mail or bring your completed application and required drawings to the Community Development office located at 2700 Lyons Road.
