National Night Out
The Miami Township Police Department is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with the community we serve. Each year on the first Tuesday in August, we participate in National Night Out. The campaign works to strengthen our officers’ relationships with neighbors and promote a sense of community, while sharing useful information about ways to reduce crime and keep families safe.
Miami Township is ranked first in the nation among communities our size (15,000-50,000) by the National Association of Town Watch. Our residents host block parties, cookouts, and park events to name a few.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2020 IS RE-SCHEDULED TO OCTOBER 6!
Neighborhood parties begin at 6 p.m.
A Note from NNO organizers:
We are number one! The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) ranked the Miami Township Police Department’s National Night Out celebration first place in the nation among communities of the same size. We could not have a first-place celebration without the dedication of our block captains and neighbors. The ranking is based upon a comprehensive report showcasing our event filed by the department after NNO.
We hope this time of separation from people is helping you to look forward to future times when we can be together again. The impact of the COVID 19 virus is wide, and it is even impacting our National Night Out (NNO) celebration. Out of an abundance of caution, we are moving our National Night Out celebration from our traditional first Tuesday in August to October 6, 2020. Our thought is that there will be a good understanding of the COVID 19 virus, and possibly people will be more comfortable being together in groups.
The recommendation for the alternate date came from the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), the group responsible for National Night Out. Although we always have celebrated NNO in August, NATW hosts another celebration in October for people who live Texas where August is too hot for social gatherings. This year we will be joining the great people of Texas and celebrating in October.
We will be sending out the NNO registration packets at the beginning of June, but we will not be celebrating until October 6, 2020. We hope you and your neighbors will still participate with us. We are planning another outstanding celebration. We look forward to celebrating NNO October 6, 2020 with you!
