Department Responsibilities

The Township Road, Police, Zoning, and Park departments rely on the internal Fleet Maintenance Department for routine repairs and preventive maintenance. The Fleet Maintenance Department, comprised of two full-time staff members, is responsible for maintenance of over 80 Township owned vehicles and equipment. A full inventory of small engine equipment and power tools and are also maintained by the department. The mechanics are trained in the maintenance of light and heavy duty equipment and possess a number of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications. John Schweickart currently serves as the department's Fleet Manager. John has been a Township employee since 2007.

The Fleet Maintenance Department is responsible for routine services on older vehicles, as well as, preparing newly purchased vehicles for operation. The Fleet Maintenance bay is located within the Public Works Facility complex. Due to budgetary constraints, the mechanic staff may occasionally perform road maintenance functions and serve as regular route drivers for winter weather events.
